Do you have the v3? It looks like that has a lot of fixing options, or is there another reason why it may not fit an SMLE?
No, I have the V2 but recently watched someone try to attach their new V3 to a SMLE and it won't fit. The fitting options are the same.

I used a V2 today, why won't it fit to an SMLE with some sort of DIY insert? It attached to my moderator pretty easily.

There isn't enough exposed barrel to clamp it to. It needs to be securely fixed and parallel to the bore otherwise it might take a bullet.

I didn't fit the V2 chrono I used the other day, but it was attached to my moderator and nothing else, it's a big fat can about the diameter of my SMLE. Whilst I obviously haven't tried it, it looked like it would work on the SMLE attaching it just in front of the bayonet lug.

Acting on your advice I bought the Magnetospeed V3.

I bought QuickLOAD this week and I was impressed that the chrono work I did last week and QuickLOAD agreed within about 20fps, if not less. A credit to both. What's the cheapest price for the V3? I've seen the standard V3 for about £375, has anyone found it cheaper elsewhere? Also any more info on the boing cable and software?

I bought my V3 by mail order from Vertebrae Shop in Norway - I saved about £70 in total.

I have the XFR cable and XFR app, hovever the cable isn't not yet available here in Europe - I got mine from the pre-release batch Magnetospeed sold recently, it was acquired by a pal in the US and posted over. The XFR App was only released yesterday, I've downloaded it but won't get chance to try it until I'm on the range tomorrow.

XFR for iOS App - Apple App store

XFR App for Android - Google store

XFR Cable - Magnetospeed site

I can't speak for any of the UK dealers, but my friend Jim de Kort - JDK Rifles in Holland will have the XFR cable in stock shortly.

N.B. XFR has to have iOS 8.1 to work on an boing/iPad and the V3 has to be upadated to the latest firmware from the Magnetospeed site.

Both excellent tools.

I have another - Bryan Litz's Point Mass Ballistics Calculator (it's included with his book on ballistic coefficients). By far the most accurate I have used for predicting 1,000 yard elevations.
