What should my expectations be then if I stick with the 62gr? With a 'lighter' charge, will performance be significantly worse?
Would I get better results with a lighter 55 or heavier 69? Yeah, I know - 'results' is a bit vague... :lol:

55 Grain bullets aren't used in SS109 and where are you going to get WC844?

Quite a few folks over here replicate the military round or try to. Below is a photo with both WC844 and H335 as you can see they are pretty much as close as you can get, in the absence of WC844 they use the H335. They also use the US Army load data from the Army tech spec sheet.

I've been using H335 for years, a great powder for .223 and regarded as a "classic".
Hodgdon says,
Originated as a military powder, used for the 5.56 NATO, or 223 Remington as handloaders know it.

Well, if it's good enough for 308 Win, I'm guessing it'll be good enough for 7.62 NATO...

If you are going to go to the bother of reloading why spend the time using a ballistically inferior and frankly lower quality bullet? NATO 'spec' reloads may well produce NATO 'spec' accuracy which would seem to make the exercise pointless. Very good quality 69 grain target bullets can be had for reasonable cost and should shoot groups at least half the size of that achievable with a 62 grain FMJ surplus bullet.

That's what I was originally asking; 55-62-69? I'll be reloading from GGG/PPU (and nothing else) and my question was 'which weight' would be better in the absense of 62gr.
