I don't see any connection at all between the title of the thread and the newspaper article. Most armies have training facilities to replicate urban environments as that is a common combat area in this day and age. Where is the evidence that this has been built in order to remove firearms from civilians?

Most armies do indeed have training villages, towns etc....i myself trained at Bosnia village, and Imber, the areas them selves usually try to replicate the chosen combat destination of the training troops, In this training area it's a replication of small town America. So what does this tell you? Can you see why the theories are flying?

If the time does come that some sort of draconian power or society breaks down I'm sure it will be a case of all gun owners in the uk are to drop off all guns at the cop shop,80-95% will comply, making the numbers resisting easy to chase up, anyone that "takes to the hills" will have no future realisticly and won't be enough in numbers to be of any consequence......that is how I perceive things going down.....

I was of the opinion that the riots in London a year or 2 ago were inflamed by `someone` to cause havoc in the city as a means to push through laws required to deal with a recurrence. It's just a gut feeling, but I can't help but feel it was a dry run...

I doubt they'll take farmers shotguns from them.

Well, the main role of any military is to defend its home nation, so it would make sense they know how to fight in there home nation no matter how unlikely that is, further More no one knows for sure what the next "War" will be and in reality the colours of the building probably wont make that much of a difference to training, so why not? when they could just use local materials and architecture which would be reasonably cheap.
You then have to think of the other things it could be used to train for, such as chemical attack/Natural disaster exercises.

I find it hard to believe that squaddies would all be keeping this huge secret from friends and family. They are on awful wages and get treated like dirt. The moment they get told to cull civvies they will be going AWOL by the thousand.. I don't doubt the western politicians have ruthless and evil plans I just think it will be/is more subtle than that. After all the plan on killing the poor with toxic foods and prescription meds is going so well they don't need to take such overt risks..

I don't think anyone's suggesting the army are going to kill civilians as such, just that if SHTF in a significant way, the army will be called to [supplement|back up] the police, especially in [hot spots|riots]. I suppose the point is, it looks like they're training for some form of collapse in society. You perhaps wouldn't draw that conclusion from this thread alone, but there are lots of telltale signs that they're expecting trouble.

That is a very good point....

Ref ammo shortages, it could be down mainly to demand and supply - panic buying and speculative hoarding. An interesting article in the NRA magazine December 2013:

and others

http://www.americanrifleman.org/article ... =27&sub=28 (Primer shortage)

http://www.americanrifleman.org/video.php?id=24570 Steve Hornady on ammo shortages.

Just seen this: http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2 ... ge-yo.aspx

Cabela's seem to be getting sorted but CCI MiniMag solids are scarcer than Unicorn sh1t.
