House was already alarmed so a dedicated monitored system for the gun room was installed. I was happy to do it as I had around 100 firearms in my collection plus my obsoletes so protecting my investment was a no brainer, it helped with my insurance too.

Also meant that when I went down the RFD route 'pon retirement 7 years later I had no more to do.

Alarm monitoring and maintenance costs are around the £200 a year mark.

As soon as the bairn got herself a place at university I had the engineers and the FLO's in straight away. She was a bit outraged but a brief explanation of mortgages and who paid for it soon sorted that out.
Is just your gun room alarmed, or the whole house (I understand if you don't want to answer on an open forum!) Also, is it of the red alert type?
Not sure about a gun room being alarmed, but if I had a gun room, I'd have a very alarmed chequebook.

Brattonsound now do a matching pair of their latest safe - a left hand hinge and a right hand hinge - just bolt the two together. It does make them maouverable unlike some of the extremely large ones.
