My mainstay 45 colt bullet is the Elmer Keith designed 454424...
A 255gr or thereabouts lead semi wadcutter style. ..which is supposed to also be a great bullet in 45ACP...
Should be easy enough to load down to the speeds you require.

The issue with the De-Lisle is that they're a poor execution of a brilliant idea.
All the ones I tried also struggled to get ANY sort of groups. I think this is down to the rubber swipe baffle design...seems to upset the bullet on leaving the muzzle too much.
The .22 caliber model, built around an early model FN Auto was better in terms of accuracy.

Badger never said he had a DeLisle. In his OP he said

The problem you will have in trying to use a heavier boolit is case capacity it is limited in the 45 ACP. Heavier boolits get heavier by getting longer and/or fuller on the nose like a wad cutter or wide flat nose boolit design, your throat will determine how much bigger/longer the boolits will be as you have no room seat the boolit into the case. Heavier boolits will need slower powders, slower powders use larger loads so again the capacity is limiting.

I have shot 45 ACP rifles out to 300yrds but it is plunging fire, with no accuracy to speak of. At 300 if you keep increasing the elevation the fall of shot starts walking back to you.

The 45 ACP is a fine pistol cartridge, it was never designed as a long range shooting. If you want to shoot out to 300 yrds then you have the wrong rifle and calibre. Be happy getting good 100yrd accuracy out of it and to get the best from the rifle you will need to reload.

Hmmm, maybe we should recalibrate our expectations and stick to 100 yards as our maximum range from this one then. After all, we have our P14 with its shushkit for when we want to go to 600 yards...
