Re: Tacticool Rifle Experiences
I have a 416 and it is great fun and it is not plasticy. Yes cleaning it is fiddley when you want to deep clean it. But feed it mini mag and it needs little cleaning other than a wipe out with a oily rag and a pull through with a bore snake then lube as required. The only time it needed a massive clean was when I fired 500 rem thunderbolts through it and it leaded up the barrel and flash hider that ammo is nasty. It may not be the most accurate rifle but I got it as a fun gun and it does what I want it to do and goes bang every time.

I am lucky enough to have a Bradley Arms .22 and it's the one rifle I would never sell, it wasn't cheap; however I still consider it value for money. I also have a CMMG, which is also very good.Mike357 wrote:In an ideal world we'd all have a Bradley Arms or Lantac Raven AR.
With any guns there always pigs in amongst them and it seems that more often than not it is the failures that make the headlines. Working to your budget, you'll have hours of fun with a Sig or the S&W.
The Sig's seem pretty good, I've only ever known of one that had a problem (which happened in a comp at WNSC) and most of the people who have the S&Ws or 416s seem pretty pleased with them. The guy that I regularly shoot with has a V22 and that runs well and is accurate - he was talking about getting another that had come up at a decent price, so that says something.
The generation 1 GSGs didn't seem that great. I know one person who got rid of it, because it just wouldn't run reliably. I saw another at a comp at Shield failed time after time. Some of the Spikes were great; some not so - I know of a couple that have had problems. I've no experience of the ISSC.

I had one of these:
http://shop.nordiccomp.com/AR22-Kit-wit ... 6-NC1M.htm
which was arguably the design that kicked of the current craze. Bought at a time when £1 bought $3 and it you could get them straight from Brownell's.
I am sure that someone is selling this design as a ready to go package now but not sure who - sorry.
My experiences were that it was a well made kit which could tale all M4/AR furniture.
The issue for me was that the original receiver and trigger unit were well and truly bolted inside the kit. To get at the bolt for cleaning etc required a complete strip down which was not really practical on the range.
Also, the scope rail was on the kit, which meant that every time you stripped the gun, or indeed tightened bolts etc the POI was changed. Not ideal when competing or hunting and you don't have time to zero. This also made the scope a bit higher than normal which changed settings.
All in all I am now not a fan of any design which takes the original receiver etc and build a stock around it - something I am seeing with after market Remington 700 tactical socks.
I know you are not a Ruger fan but I thought I would post this for anyone else who might be considering one,

Re: Tacticool Rifle Experiences
When were you last able to get $3.00 to £1.00, since 1990 the best Exchange Rate has been $2.07 to £1.00.
Re: Tacticool Rifle Experiences
I will stand corrected but just before all things went arse up we were getting near on 3 for 1. Maybe 4 or 5 years back.
My memory is not the best but I am sure it was $3 or near to it,

Try this site, http://www.oanda.com/currency/historical-rates/
I think the best you'd have got was $2.00 a five years back.

Re: Tacticool Rifle Experiences
Sorry to but in chaps, but could someone kindly explain what "tacticool" means? I've not come across the phrase before. Thanks awfully.
Re: Tacticool Rifle Experiences
Sunday at the club with my Lantac Raven .22lr. I cannot fault this and is one accurate beast.
