The ITAR nonsense can be proved to be nonsense when you consider that Aimpoint scopes are on the ITAR list; yet they are all made in Sweden!!
You can understand ITAR being used to protect US manufactured goods & the like, but saying that they are illegal for non-US citizens is ridiculous when in the case of the Aimpoint they are not even American goods in the first place

VAT will certainly be charged, and has to be, but it could be at teh local or UK rate depending on the exact status of the company.

I didn't write the above very well. What I meant was that VAT will not be paid as it enters the UK as it will have already been paid in Europe.

Anyway, ITAR just refers to stuff coming out of the US, does it not? If in Europe, then it's sorted. If I was after such an item, I would have no issue at all ordering from the continent.

As far as i'm aware if you can get one out of the US (or where ever) there are no UK restrictions on them. I hope not anyway as i've got one on my AUG!

It has said ACOGs jumped in price once the US Military started using them, but everything in this sport has gone up over the years.

I know people who have got items from Canada, with no problems. Reading Canadian Government websites firearm related items just need a export permit, which looks like they can get for minimal cost (free maybe, because I can't find anything document that gives you a cost of application/processing). A guy in the club said he was charged 150 dollars by an importer, but they can charge what they like for doing the administration - it is up to the buyer do decide if it is worth it or not. I was going to ask mate living in Canada to enquire for me what it costs to do it if I got some things sent to him, and then forward it over after sorting out the permit.

Trijicon was established by devout Christian Glyn Bindon in the early 1980's and has been adding religious statements to gunsights right from the very beginning. He's a nut job.

As part of their "faith", Trijicon has put scripture references on their products for more than two decades.

I would not buy one out of principle. There are several fine optics out there that rival the ACOG.

It may be a controversial statement to make but I'm unable to trust or respect anyone who cannot offer neutrality or even reject matters of faith.

As an aside, would you use an item engraved with "In God We Trust"? I guess not ...
