This is always a highly divisive issue with collectors/shooters always having strong views.
In the UK (and many other parts of the world for that matter) you simply can't own a Firearm like a BAR in Live condition for instance.
If you are interested in Firearm development, or a particular sub type say Sten guns Thompson's or whatever...then this is your only real option.
If they are (UK pre Oct 95 spec), then they can be stripped and the actions work, thus making fine study specimens.
Sten guns are a particularly interesting as collectors pieces, crudely made to the eye they may be, but they are fascinating and very important firearms in their own right ( a landmark weapon) and each one has a story to tell.
