Where's all the McNab hate coming from? :?
I like his novels.
He also has an impact on the physical too; McNab says "The SA80 is a good bit of kit" ergo, the rifle now magically work. End of.

It's when he claims some things to be true that the problems start.

McNab is essentially a lying piece of s***. The book, Bravo Rwo Zero was basically a web of lies with a complete exageration of how much fighting went on, how many they killed and endless excuses for the failure of the mission. The really stupid thing was that it was so needless if you consider the physical achievements when escaping.
A guy from the same squadron was later RTU'd back to the PARAS. The guy would start raving at the very mention of McNab and i gather he's barred from the bars and mess, far less welcome on base. I believe one of the main problems was that McNab left the Army sharpish and the book was published pretty much without any supporting evidence. The others were either dead or still in so couldn't comment.
A few years later a guy went through all the chapters, literally walked the routes and spoke with Iraqis' involved and impartial witnesses. It was televised by CH4 - i think it was called 'The Real Bravo Two Zero' and basically proved that the book was a total fabrication .

That was Peter Ratcliffe, the Regiments ex-RSM, who was, erm........ publishing his memoirs at the time.
Military history books, Sniping in France, Maj Hesketh-Pritchard, Selous Scouts, Ron Reid-Daly and Shake Hands With The devil, General Romeo Dallaire who was assigned to lead the United Nation troops in Rwanda during the period of genocide....
