Re: FB TR Score Sheets
One issue for me is I have never got my head around the 'reverse' wind plotting even though I understand the reasoning behind it so I tend to plot backwards in that respect, I need someone to show me the correct plotting method in detail as so far I have only read a couple of tutorials which did not answer all of my questions.
Re: FB TR Score Sheets
I totally agree with this comment. Plotting scoresheets is best taught 1-1 and allows for much better questioning and support. I find it gobsmacking if anyone gets it first timeovenpaa wrote:One issue for me is I have never got my head around the 'reverse' wind plotting even though I understand the reasoning behind it so I tend to plot backwards in that respect, I need someone to show me the correct plotting method in detail as so far I have only read a couple of tutorials which did not answer all of my questions.

Re: FB TR Score Sheets
I had a crack at plotting this year with mixed results - I ruined a comp shoot by trying to plot and shoot at the same time (but maybe that's just me :-P ), but found some very usefull information from plotting after the shoot...
I found that I have a tendency to over correct for wind changes; so will keep plotting wind while I try to sort that out. The most usefull thing I found was how my rifle behaved during the first 5 shots through a clean barrel, which meant I could anticipate the corrections before I took the shot (so plotting after the shoot can have value for future shoots) - This is something I will have to do again, as I've just changed rifles...but am looking forward to it
Personally I won't continue trying to plot while shooting - there is enough else to think about, and relaxing is important too...Also I have to admit that I've picked up the odd point from watching the person next to me get caught out by the wind

Re: FB TR Score Sheets
Theres a great "How to do it" guide by David Calvert in an old journal (maybe 1990s I think) if anyone can find it. Can try and look it out tomorrow

Re: FB TR Score Sheets
There was also a guide in a recent Target Shooter however I lost the will to live 2/3rds of the way through the article....
Re: FB TR Score Sheets
I didn't get the one in Target Shooter either - Heather ( I think) sent me some PPs on plotting which I learned it from...I'll see if I can work out how to post them....
Edit: Arrh
- I'm not sure they're for general posting.....

Happy to do that again whenever you want.ovenpaa wrote: I think I need to speak to that nice Heather and see when her next plotting course is going to be run

Re: FB TR Score Sheets
Do you have another course coming up early in the new year Heather?
Re: FB TR Score Sheets
Hadn't planned anything but if enough want to do it, I can easily put one on.

Re: FB TR Score Sheets
I did make up a couple of dodgy powerpoints for teaching my club how to use the scoresheet, if anyone's interested? I say dodgy because I know they're missing one or two bits but I can never remember which until I'm halfway through teaching with them!
There's two: one which labels the scoresheet and gives a walkthrough/talkthrough of how to plot and what to put in the various boxes, and a live plotting exercise one which tests what you learned in the first.
