I started shooting in school, tried rugby but didn't like getting stomped.

Looked down the list of available sports for the one that involved the least amount of effort and had the lowest possibility of getting hurt, drowned or mocked - shooting fit the bill perfectly! About 10 seconds after finishing my first 10 rounds on the schools .22rf range, I was hooked.

As far as football - footballs were banned in the school and you risked a beating if caught with one! Hated it then, still hate it now.

I wouldn't be holding my breath over this one.

1) The Australian Federal Govt (AFG) holds a lot of power as is quite willing to use it to slap State Govts back into line.

2) After Port Arthur, the AFG used this power to force the States to agree to the bans that came in and to get the States to have similar firearms laws. This was under the threat of the AFG taking firearm laws away from the States.

3) While the Shooters and Fishers party might be in a position to influence the State Govt - I can see the NSW Govt trying to wriggle out of it, because of the AFG, votes, cost etc or massively watered down.

4) More and more Australians are urbanised(?) with a overly romantic view of "the bush" and will respond more to this sort of reporting http://www.smh.com.au/environment/conse ... 1dcpm.html than to the policies of the Shooters and Fishers Party.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but really can't see it happening. :evil:

Ha, what a joke. The new 'super-duper' curriculum being forced onto the Scottish Educational system was essentially lifted from Australia, branded 'Curriculum for Excellence' (or as we call it Curriculum for Excrement) and forced through without any consultation.

I doubt however shooting would be approved.
