Australians Want Gun Sports in Schools

I am crossing my fingers for this to be approved, in one way or the other. I am sure there are many school kids who would like to shoot instead of running around after a ball.

If only it could happen here, it would be fantastic.

Australians always seem more level headed about these things.

I hated sport at school so shooting might have been something I could have got involved in.

Ditto for me, I would have loved the opportunity to have a go at shooting when I was at school rather than running around a bloody field or any other inane "sport"

I ran a question on GT re my observations that shooters tend to hate football, there are the odd exception but my findings are that the two sports do not mix.

So I would have gladly given up my many hours of standing in goal not giving a dam for some shooting lessons.
I can see no reason why it would be any less safe for me to have had lessons at school when I was running around the country side at every opportunity with my air rifle. As it happens by the age of 16 I was in the Junior Army and was given a SA80 (the first intake to do the SA80 at this depot).

Do they have Freemasons in Australia? I expect so and, therefore, I would also expect their gun laws will come a cropper one day.

I am wondering why I live in the UK at all. Mind you, the countryside is beautiful and we walk mlies in it as much as we can. I would miss that............and my Mum.

There are a number of schools in the UK that engage in shooting. But, I believe it's the private and "elite" schools that do so. My mate went to a local grammar school where was an indoor small bore range which was an after school activity. They also had a cadet force.

When flicking through a NSRA publication did I not see school teams listed in competitions?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Unfortunately, there are still brainwashed people who think that even the word 'Gun' is evil.

Well if the SHTF in the UK, I hope they don't expect any help from the nasty UK Gun Owners.

Birmingham's Gun Quarter area to get new name

Full Story...

Birmingham's historic Gun Quarter is to be renamed after residents petitioned the council to give their district a new title.

Birmingham City Council confirmed the area, which is next to the Jewellery Quarter, is to
become known as St George and St Chad.

A spokesman for the council said some people wanted the name change to distance the area from gun crime.

pity they could not petition to get rid of those responsible for gun CRIME...that would be too obvious to these clowns.
