I am not concerned about shooting jacketed in the .357, more interested in the use of TB as it is something we use a lot of. In the end we loaded all of the cast and called it a day.

I have to say I have been singularly unimpressed with Trail boss. I certainly works within it parameters but not significantly better than other powders with a similar burning rate.

It is certainly more case filling but if a double charge worries you and you cannot put in place processes to over come such an event then you shouldn't be handloading.

As Simon has pointed out it was made for a specific purpose which it does well enough but is limited in its flexibility, there are far better and more flexible powders out there that do just as well, if not better, than Trailboss in performance.

You also get to pay a premium for its limitations.

I have not tried TrailBoss for my Marlin .357 but I do use it with my Marlin 45-70. 13gr of TrailBoss behind a 405 gr lead bullet works really will for indoor range use.

My indoor 45-70 load in my original Trapdoor is 5 gns of 2or 3 fg blackpowder with an Xlox lubed 0.457" pure lead round ball seated on top of the powder in the case pushed in with a dowel

One ragged hole at 25yrds, no smoke, a subtle pop and no fouling.
