I use a rectangular washing up bowl for 100% collection.

I use an old Lee single stage press which has a little box with a detachable aluminium plate to catch the spent primers. This is permanently fitted with a lee decapping die which has been bored out to take calibres up to 577 Snider. It is screwed to the end of the bench and the gun room plastic bin lives there. What misses the box on the press falls into the bin.

On my RCBS Rockchucker, original not the supreme, I just jammed a bit of square dowel into the priming arm slot. The primers just run down the back of the dowel fall out the bottom into the tray never a wayward one.

The same effect can be achieved by jamming a plastic drinking straw in the priming arm slot.

Simple.

And people say that you have to fettle Lee stuff to get it working properly. . .

Yes you do, with everything they sell, fettling is built into every Lee item.

If their fettling was as simple as adding a plastic drinking straw I'd have more time for and confidence in their products.

No fettling of my Lee Loader has been required :good:

That was one of the first items Lee ever made and was good from the get go.

They have kept the cost down by reducing the no. of calibres now available and streamlining the contents.

Good design stands the test of time, unfortunately when Lee resurrected itself the original design ethics seemed to have moved somewhat.

Prior to 1997 I made 100's of .45 ACP cartridges using a Lee and all the spent primers fell safely into a plastic box which was part of the loading press. Brings back memories and not one jammed my S&W Model 645. Loved the pistol. Took it apart once and had to get a local RFD to reassemble it!

I can't remember if primers are made of metal which could be magnetic. If so, then a magnetic tray may catch them all?

My lee just pops them into the base of the press, empty them at a later stage or run a hose to a bucket underneith... Should have got a lee.
