Many thanks for the info, form downloaded :)

In terms of finding out the shoot dates, I take it there is some form of info circular, be it just an email or whatever?

Also, my other half shoots with me, is a full member of the club, but she has no FAC and shoots my rifle. How would this work outside of our regular club arrangement? Is there a mechanism to allow it, or would she need an FAC to get involved? Cheers muchly and sorry for being so ignorant!!

Any queries I'm sure they'll help you with. See you at Blair Athol soon.

Ermm... PM Heather on this forum, I am sure she will be able to help. Does she have an SCC?

EDIT - My view on this is as far as shooting at Bisely goes is I am sure as long as she is a member of the NRA and holds an SCC then it should not be a problem. For shooting within the F Class league you would need to speak to MikMak.

Get her name on an FAC! ;)

As a member of a Home Office Approved club she is allowed to shoot & handle firearms - thats why there is a probationary period and a requirement for local police forces to vet membership applications. There are also circumstance where she can legally be in possession of firearms and ammunition on her own but lets not complicate it!! I am sure if you were shooting at an F Class league shoot there would be no problem in her shooting as well as long as she had a competency certificate if it is an MOD range - we don't ask for them at Diggle or Blair as they are private ranges.

Thanks all, she does hold an SCC, issued every year alongside mine, and shoots at Bisley regularly so sounds as if all is well.

Just need to print off the form and send now, should get round to that this weekend, if the hectic schedule gives me 5 minutes!!

It will be good to see new members and also more female shooters on the Line. Just a thought but if you are both using the same rifle make sure that you make it clear to the shoot organiser when you put in your entry forms so that they know to squad you on different details.
You will also be putting a lot of rounds down the same barrel so make provisions to clean it at lunch time, I would suspect that it would need more than a pull through with a bore snake.

One of you will benefit from having the rifle set up for you at that distance - unless someone losses the plot!

Competitions can vary but you will find the F Class league will have a "Blow Off" or fouling session for a minute before the first distance. How many rounds you fire is up to you.

Then you will have 2 sighter's, which are not scored, but should you shoot two exceptionally good sighter's you can ask to convert them and have them count, in which case you have started the string.
Strings of 10 and 15 are common and 20 less so. Multiply that by however many distances you are shooting will give you the number of rounds.
Many shooters will have a couple of rounds spare just in case one gets damaged or fails to fire etc.

In my own head I have a 100 round cut off point before I give my barrel a proper clean, I would not go beyond that. With two sharing the same rifle you could easily go over that in one days shooting.

Have you read http://www.accurateshooter.com/technica ... rrel-life/

There was another article where by someone with lots of dosh managed to wreck a new barrel in 100 shots, which is probably where I get my figure from. He compares it to one cleaned correctly and proves his point that cleaning frequently is a must - Unfortunately I can not find it.
