On the other hand...............
I was at Bisley today shooing my 223 at 600 yards.
I only have up to 15 x on that rifle.
The V`s and 5`s didnt complain!

If you know what you are doing 4.bowl is adequate at 600.

I'm more than happy to use my 45 at 50m with my old eyes, even used it at 30m on an air rifle

Was that because you weren't hitting them?
If you're just lying down and taking your time then the highest mag possible, any thing more active and you might want to come down to x4-6
