Usually the picture is too big. you need to resize them. I can never get it to work off my phone so upload to flickr and copy the embed code from there.

As others have said, that seems fair! Put some decent factory or some handloads through it - I expect it will shoot. Mine was great, regret selling it.

Just an update, been to the range today and shot 75 rounds of various makes, my gun favours 55gr ammo but the groups are still quite spread, also had a couple of lads shoot it aswell and they were getting the same type of groups, checked bases,rings scope, even had the hogue stock off and opened up barrel channel a bit more so its definatly free floating, some say keep shooting it some say send it back and get another gun, also has been suggested it may tighten up if i change the stock but i really am unsure what to do.

Nobody at the club have a similar 700 SA which you can try the stock from (just to rule that out of the equation)?

Try more brands of ammo too....and see if anyone can make up a few reloads using your old brass.

Tuned it myself and it's been brilliant for almost two decades!

My problems with the 700 SPS Tactical begin and end with the Hogue stock. There are two different Hogue stocks, and unfortunately Remington chose the wrong one (the cheaper one). The one they should have put on it was the one with the full-length aluminium chassis inside the synthetic stock. The one they chose doesn't have that, and as a result the area of the stock where the front sling swivel is located has way too much 'give' in it.

You did not specify exactly how you are shooting it, but if you are shooting off a bipod or a sandbag rest you may find, as I did, that the stock flexes so much that it contacts the barrel. I know you said you opened up the barrel channel, but the question is did you open it up enough? I had to hog out the synthetic stock quite a lot to free-float the barrel when there is any upward pressure on the stock from a bipod or rest.

To be sure try this: shoot a group off a sandbag rest with the sandbag at the front sling swivel; then shoot another group with the sandbag under the action. If the groups are better with no pressure on the fore-end (as they were with mine) - then you have solved your mystery and you need to either open up the channel more, or replace the stock.
