The Airgun Book by John Walter has a section on this, the German system is in Joules (being funny metric chaps) & the proof that an airgun complies with German law, is a pentagram with a letter "F" in it.
On the other hand though, Germans are still allowed handguns, self-loading rifles, blank-firing modifications of actual working guns "off ticket", they have a different standard re. de-activated guns, plus they have access to all sorts of less-than-lethal self-defence options (pepper sprays, CS sprays, hairy arsed Rottweilers, hairy arsed wimmin, etc.)

As is often the case...WE end up getting the lower common denominator of all the worst parts of other laws...
When the Bill is law, it'll make Scotland the most restrictive in the EU on gun ownership - way ahead of most of the ex-Soviet bloc states even; the most "enlightened" country for shooters in the EU at present seems to be the CZ Republic...though the rest of the Baltic states are not too far off on what you can own/do.
Seems that a few decades under a jackboot tends to sway public opinion toward less restrictions, not more...

Very true, some odd weird restrictions the germans have like not being able to use more than 10 rounds in a long arm during a comp (club shooting is unrestricted and pistols have no such restrictions) and self defense seems more tolerated. Who lives under the yoke of oppression now then? It seems Scotland today combines the worst aspects of Socialism and Calvinism with none of the redeeming qualities of either.

But for some reason the sheeple want / demand this (firearms) i even heard one sheeple say that the government is there to do what's good for us and NOT to do what the people want !

Don't see the SNP introducing an Obesity Tax, or tripling VAT rates on anything cooked in batter, providing subsidies on fresh fruit & veg., or making illegal drug use more illegal...why would they punish their key voters??

Actually what thay have said sums up the current system of Parliamentary Democracy. That said, people have been conditoned these last few years to be subservient, hand out seeking arsholes, dependent on an ever encroaching Big Brother state becaue they are too sh1t thick to run their own pathetic lives - just too bad so many live North of Hadrians Wall.

Ah well, we can always concetrate on the footie, vandalism, serious assault, alcohol and domestic violence stats, the ones the Scottish Parties and police are prettty well incapable of tackling.

I wonder who they will atack after airgun owners..I say fishermen (sea AND fresh water) will be required to get a permit ffor every rod..or those scary sharp fish hooks!

Don't give them ideas Chuck. I'd like to think there is a breaking point where people realize they're being screwed over, but we don't seem to have reached it yet.

Snare users are already under scrutiny

You have to attend a course to become licensed, then keep a register of your snares, how often you inspect them, what you catch in them, etc.
Similar to an RFD log, in that it has to be available for inspection for a five year period too...

Isn't that the same mess that led to a forum user having Issues with the police with the Bayonet on His Mosin-Nagant. The one he holds on an FAC? The one that fires 7.62x54 and bloody hurts when it hits? My god, with this level of stupidity, bring on the walking dead or whatever post Apocalypse awaits us.

Incidentally anyone remember who had that issue on here?
