Stage 1 Debate on the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Bill
I am writing to remind you that the Stage 1 debate on the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Bill will take place tomorrow Thursday 23 April 2015, starting at 2.30pm in the Debating Chamber of the Scottish Parliament.
The purpose of the Stage 1 debate is to allow the full Parliament to debate the general principles (policy and purpose) of the Bill, as well as the findings and recommendations of the Local Government and Regeneration Committee’s Stage 1 report on the Bill. Immediately following the debate, the Parliament will vote on whether to approve the Bill at Stage 1 (at Decision Time at 5pm).
If you wish to attend the session you can book tickets online, free of charge, for the public gallery of the Debating Chamber, or you can ring the Parliament’s Visitor Services Department on 0131 348 5200. You can also watch the debate live online on the Parliament’s broadcast website from 2.30pm. The debate may also be available to watch on the Scotland section of the BBC Democracy Live website.
Further information on the Bill process will be provided after the Stage 1 process is completed.

Stage 1 Debate the Air Weapons & Licensing (Scotland) Bill
Re: Stage 1 Debate the Air Weapons & Licensing (Scotland) Bi
it's not a debate but a foregone conclusion forced through by the Scottish Numpty Party after receiving evidence which showed it was not needed - is that about right?
A sop to their core voters - who are probably more socially irresponsible than any airgun owner. Or too drunk to be.

WEAPON!!!!!!!air weapon certificate.

FFS That sounds like that mad American wummin who thinks that once magazines are empty they are useless! What planet are these fools on?“I can say that we expect that the benefit of legislation that prevents people who are not fit and proper, or who do not have a good reason to do so, from holding air weapons, will be that a huge number of air weapons will be handed in to the police for destruction.
That means that there will be fewer air rifles and air pistols lying around in wardrobes, on bedside tables, in garages and in attics—where, to be frank, anybody could pick them up, including young people. That has to be a good thing.”
Deluional and misguided verbal dysentry! It will make NO difference whatsoever except to screw law abiding people for money - and criminalise a previously legal purchase and activity - which is more to the point!
Nazis, and them some!
So much for "consultation eh" Paperz Pleez!

Re: Stage 1 Debate the Air Weapons & Licensing (Scotland) Bi
Scottish government was told repeatedly that "Air Weapon" was incorrect during the consultation (Ignoresultation), they were told again during meetings where representative of shooting organisations were invited. They were asked to use the neutral term "air gun" if for anything else to show some kind of magnanimity.
That they insist on using the term "Air Weapon" shows this is a politically driven exercise designed to appeal to the SNP's core left wing vote who regard all people who participate in shooting sports as Tory Toffs or Hamiltons in waiting.

How did politics get like this? I've seen the uk government be more neutral even during the pistol ban. What a joke.Fedaykin wrote:Scottish government was told repeatedly that "Air Weapon" was incorrect during the consultation (Ignoresultation), they were told again during meetings where representative of shooting organisations were invited.
