I have used an EB 20x40 scope for 1000 yrd use on my K31, and I have a burris 3-9x40 on it for possible use for Deer Stalking, although to be honest I much prefer using it with the battle sights on club days, as it seems to hit the black as often as the scoped rifles AND I have an excuse if it doesn't.

I've got a mount but haven't used it on mine. Stupid question but do you need to adjust the windage for each distance because the scope if offset? I can't get my head around it, is the offset constant regardless of distance and therefore you can hold off by the same amount or do you need to tweak it each time?

If the scope is mounted parallel to the bore, oomanette, it will be a consistent distance off at every range. Ours is out by 3/4" - we can cope with that.

It really isn't a problem. The cheek weld looks awkward as well but once again, isn't really an issue. Stick the scope on it and watch what a quality piece of Swiss engineering can do.

It depends on whether you are shooting for groups or dropping Fig11s' at Sennybridge.My PSO-1 scope on my Dragunov is offset to the left and to be honest on a calm day (rare at Senny I know) I didn't have to take the offset/windage into account, I just aim dead on.

If you think about it if your scope is offset to the left and is zeroed at 200m and you took a length of string from the centreline line of the barrel and another one from the centreline of the scope the string from the scope will be to the left of barrel string, then meet it at 200m, cross over it and then run to the right of it......a picture would show it better..........




I worked out the offset of my PSO-1 on the Dragunov and with a 100m zero (so the barrel centreline and scope centreline meet) the difference horizontally between poi and poa due to the offset is only approx 7cm at 800m, so for a Fig11 or "man" sized target that 7cm difference is negligible.

An advantage of the K31 and its offset mount is that the scope can be zeroed for a specific distance , say 600 mards, and the iron sights used at other distances. Ideally for hunting piggy if he comes at you from out of cover at short range !
