I have just had a response thanking me for attending the meeting, no mention of my question regarding firearm policy, they get a reply in the morning, I will keep pressing the point!

It doesn't hurt to ask the question, you are quit right, we may not get a response, but putting the pressure on will make them think, they have to have a written policy, this might be just the right approach to get them to make it public.....if you don't ask....you don't get mate!

I'm a UKIP member and have spoken to several people 'near the top'. There is no written policy on firearms (as at around March '14) and I'd be stunned if they have since formulated one.

They're also acutely aware it's a very sensitive subject to the liberal pansies in the UK and a deal-breaker for their election chances if they officially adopt a more 'permissive' attitude to guns... in the short term.

There's only one way to find out - Vote for them. You won't get anywhere near what you want with any other party.

Do they realise how many gun owner votes they could win ?

........or howmany votes they could lose because the terminally scared and incontinent would vote for anyone with an anti gun stance and the other parties would play on that aspect of UKIP policy rather than what they could actually deliver - something no party actually does..

UK politics is about slagging off the other partiess to get the winning vote, absolutely nothing to do with helping the electorate.

Well, I can say that unfortunately they wont get my vote without a policy statement, for all we know they might intend to disarm the public on day one, who knows without a statement !

I am fully aware all politicians promptly discard their values and morals as soon as they get into power.......but I would at least like a token gesture of intent!

Coming out of europe is policy statement enough for me.

What are the other parties policy statements on the issue?

Nothing substantial or meaningful I bet, nothing that would protect us from the emotive baying of the mob if another tragic outrage was committed with licensed firearms, votes, money and the abuse of power for their own ends is all that motivates our politicians. Doing the right thing isn't something they have a track record of or interest in.

I will have a dig about regarding the other parties firearm polices, lets see Adam.

I'd be very interested to see if they do come up with anything concrete. I'm almost certain they won't, though, for the reasons Chuck and SevenSixTwo say. Too much of a deal-breaker, especially as they're lurching left and chasing the Labour vote to try and shake off the "right-wing Tories" label.
