Anyone interested in extreme long range shooting will find this worth a read - I knew I'd heard of Sandy Hook before recent events.

I could understand them claiming to do it with a factory Remington but with a PH?

The Asperley Aimless rifle with the The Random Floating Apurture rear sight is the only rifle truly designed and capable of shooting at such targets.

Adam,
Is that the "Asperly Grande Deluxe Spontaneous Model, MkII-Target version" in 45/22 or the standard in 3/4"?

I had a hell of a row on the Airgun BBS site a couple of years ago when I questioned the bullshite they were spouting.
One chap was boasting that he was shooting 1/4" groups at 100yds with his BRNO .22rf using hunting ammo.
When I pointed out that I couldn't even do that with my Anschutz Match rifle and Tenex ammo, I was literally attacked by a howling mob who were adamant that they ALL could do it and if I couldn't then it was because I was a crap shot.

And then there was the lad who was shooting foxes at 700yds............................ tesnews

If the shots were walked in on a still morning you *might* be able to hold a 30" plate at 1600 yards with such a rifle however, as has been pointed out you would need a good backdrop to see the fall of shot so typically shooting at a boulder on a sandy backing. 4" is 1/4 minute accuracy which is impressive out of a custom .308 rifle at 200 yards let alone a factory rifle at just under a mile.

Put a different way, it is a 2.5" ish group at 1000 yards which I have a feeling is better than the current UKBR 1000 yard record shot with a custom rifle off a machine rest. Not even the DSR claims to be that accurate! clapclap

Both are capable although the 45/22 chambering is quiet rare.

how about this ?

I will put a £50 note at 1600 yds and you get 5 rds to hit it with a 308 parker hale , hit it you keep it, miss it and you take a half page spread in one of the shooting publications stating you are a male cow excrementer with a picture of you for everyone to see?
