They're not. Well, not in the States! They normally require an export agent who takes his cut. You get the following: Manufacturer > Dealer > Export Agent > Import/Customs Fees > Dealer's Markup. All take their cut. :(

From the US, different matter. Export license, import licence, end user, blah, blah, blah....

VAT will certainly be charged, and has to be, but it could be at teh local or UK rate depending on the exact status of the company.
