Youtube is a source of all things being killed and I mean all things, interestingly they do not seem to have any form of filter on it and I doubt you will find any child in the western world over the age of 12 with access to a computer that has not been on Youtube over the last 14 days.
I have always maintained you are only two clicks away from porn on Google, that probably applies to dead stuff as well.

I doubt they still do it these days but as a Secondary School pupil and with written consent from parents, we did a tour of a slaughterhouse as part of a biology class. While we where there we even picked up various animal parts put into plastic bags for us to dissect back in the classroom. Out of a class of around 25 I think only four or five didn't attend.

Exactly, and to be honest kids looking at porn online is the least of your worries considering what else can be viewed on the web. Youtube does pull lots of videos but there are sites dedicated to showing the gruesome reality of life and death in all of its technicolour glory, everything from car crash scenes to beheading and torture.
If i had kids i think the computer would be in the sitting room and i'd take the power cable with me whenever i went out!
I have a fairly open mind but I do remember bumbling onto a short clip that seriously played on my mind for a while, graphic close up death of anything animal, human being is not something I need exposure to on a daily basis.
Christel and I were talking about this just a day or two ago, we are both people that fully understand how animals get into the food chain and the processes involved, in fact despite being a vegetarian she has certainly killed more animals than I ever will and I have worked in an abattoir as a contractor but just because I understand it does not mean I need to watch it on a daily basis, frankly it was not something I enjoyed.

It's not about being squeamish or sensitive - I used to skin and gut rabbits with an axe only, and agree that people should be fully aware of where their food comes from.
I can even understand someone who has been on a difficult hunt, and actually bagged something impressive wanting to take a picture for his buddies - but it's the vermin shooters that get on my nerves, and the publications that make killing vermin a 'hobby'...some times it is (I am not arguing against) necessary to shoot vermin, but it's not exactly hard to line a cross hair up on a fox and pull a trigger...so why then 'smile for the camera'...what's so clever about shooting a dumb animal?
Dougan, I don't hunt but as long as it's for the pot or pest control then fine. Agree smiling for the camera with 300 dead woodies is a bit iffy ..IMO.
I am sure there is skill in tracking/stalking and clean killing an animal.....as opposed to sitting in a high tower or whatever....
A tower for me would be a challenge as I hate heights..
Intersting take on the "hobbie" though......never really thought that one.....Then again if you saw the targets I was shooting today some PC person would wonder about that too...and these were just paper.
