What are people's thoughts on this bullet vs lapua 155 or Berger 155.5?

Depends on the application, of course, but:
Easy to tune, much cheaper than the Berger, not much real-world performance sacrificed versus the Berger at double the price. Scenars are good for long range if you have the time to tune them and can drive them fast enough to realise the performance benefit - also fairly cost effective. Bergers have the reputation for the ultimate consistency.

The reason for wondering is if there is a way to get close to the Berger for quite a lot less money.

Scenar's still do the job and I would take 10,000 of them if they offered to me, well unless I was offered 170LB's instead.... The 155 Hybrid Berger is doing well and having had my hands on JLK's I would say they were the ultimate these days.

I've got some of the berger hybrids at the moment, but they're not grouping as well as the 155.5 bergers, or indeed the 155 Scenar.

Norman Clark sells the Berger at about 50+ quid a box, the Lapua at 40 quid and the Sierra for about 30-35, hence the question. Looking at the target plots, H4895 is the powder for that rifle - it's head and shoulders above anything else, although might have to try IMR 8208XBR

Now JLK - heard good things about them a couple of years ago but could not get hold of any over here. Have things changed, and if so who should I be calling? Their 224 bullets are also meant to be excellent...

You do have to pay these days. Brian Fox has the JLK's in stock and I have some coming in shortly as well.

As a matter of interest, what's the going rate for the JLKs? I've not seen them complete with price anywhere!

I used the Berger 155.5 fullbore bullet at the 2011 WLRC/Palma in Brisbane and had some good results, but when I have a choice I shoot Sierra 2156s as they are half the price (£28 per 100 vs £55 per 100) and are about 99% as good.

FWIW - GBRT have used both the Berger 155.5 (2011 Palma) and Seirra 2156 (2012 USA & Canada) bullets and won big with both of them.

Cheers,

Gaz

You would need to call Brian for his prices.

I have both Scenars and 2156's. I found the Lapuas have a longer 'body' and therefore there is more for the case neck to centre and secure on. If you have a 'long' chamber you may want to check just how much of a 2156 is in the case. I've used the Stoney Point gauge to measure chamber/round length.
