Re: Waiting for flo to contact me.
Just another couple of silly questions guys and dolls .
I know I'm waiting for the flo to contact me for an interview , should I wait till he has been before I get my gun safe and let him tell me when to get it , or get one in before he comes , and what are the regs on if I took my grandson on the land and learn him how to shoot under my supervision , the main point being his he allowed to use my gun under my supervision , or would that be a question for the flo ? , thanks Peter.

You can only lend a rifle on land if you are the landowner, the legal tenant (occupier) or his servant and the borrower is over 17. The relevant law is S16 Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988 as amended:
(1)A person of or over the age of seventeen may, without holding a firearm certificate, borrow a rifle from the occupier of private premises and use it on those premises in the presence either of the occupier or of a servant of the occupier if—
(a)the occupier or servant in whose presence it is used holds a firearm certificate in respect of that rifle; and
(b)the borrower’s possession and use of it complies with any conditions as to those matters specified in the certificate.
(2)A person who by virtue of subsection (1) above is entitled without holding a firearm certificate to borrow and use a rifle in another person’s presence may also, without holding such a certificate, purchase or acquire ammunition for use in the rifle and have it in his possession during the period for which the rifle is borrowed if—
(a)the firearm certificate held by that other person authorises the holder to have in his possession at that time ammunition for the rifle of a quantity not less than that purchased or acquired by, and in the possession of, the borrower; and
(b)the borrower’s possession and use of the ammunition complies with any conditions as to those matters specified in the certificate.
Take the grandson out with an air rifle and supervise him one-on-one.

In my experience (and I do about 7 a week of these things) the referee is contacted on about one occasion in 3. What you have does not sound abnormal.Ratblat wrote:Does that sound normal then guys ?

I did not have experience firing any of the calibres I applied for so I think you will be OK. Like you I'm ex-army and I think it probably helped convince him that I am safe.
Worked with the para's quite a bit while I was in. Hope you weren't in the mortar platoon!
