In section 11 they mention lever action pistols.
What is a lever action pistol?

Personally I'd love to know what the BTP used as good reason for their firearms certificates?
because i'm sure they're using section 5 pistols and rifles.....

It was covered in a earlier post I'll see if I can find it for you. A lever action pistol is a Mares Leg - like this:John25 wrote:Found this while waiting for the world to wake up this morning.

A COUPLE OF QUICK OBSERVATIONS!!
...what about the procedure IN THE FIREARMS ACT of issuing a Temp Section 7 Permit??13. RENEWAL OF FIREARM AND SHOTGUN CERTIFICATES
13.1 The group considered the proposal put forward by on behalf of the Practioners’
Group whereby certificate holders default to retain their certificates upon renewal in
order to prevent certificate holders being left in illegal possession.
13.2 DCC Marsh recommended that shooters should not be left without a valid licence
whether that be by reducing the current backlogs or applying another resource to
resolve the issue. However, he recognised that it would not be
appropriate for him to advocate a procedure to be followed.
...unless there is a serious problem of the wrong sort of rabbits on the line, this section seems to indicate that BTP officers are being armed, for uniformed duty, by issuing of a personal FAC to each officer in question!British Transport Police (BTP)
As an interim measure BTP apply for individual firearms certificates and to date 60
applications within 12 forces have been granted.
A draft statutory instrument will hopefully be submitted to the Scrutiny Committee with the support of the Secretary
of State in order to bring BTP within the current exemption of the Firearms Act 1968.
Mr Widdecombe expressed his thanks to Mr Groothuis for all his work in this area.

I didn't think that I would be the first to spot the link.
I know that we have some bizzies on the forum (I have even got pst with some of them)
BTP are doing some training at Bisley. They and the CNC are currently saving NRA financial bacon.
Some of the dinosaurs would have Bisley as just a place for MR and TR but as I said a few years ago, the comet is coming and, love or hate the current management, some much needed improvements have been made, look at Short Siberia and the proposed extension to the 300x car park. These and other improvements, much needed but un-achieved during my time, will now be going ahead
Sorry, rant over, back on my head.

What guns exactly are the BTP Constables holding on their personal/work-issued FACs for work related duty?John25 wrote:I didn't think that I would be the first to spot the link.

Are they only using S.1 rifles/S.1 shotguns - otherwise a S.1 FAC would not be relevant.
I'd be VERY interested to see the wording of the "conditions" on their FACs too!
"...firearms may be used for lethal force to protect the sacred British Rail sarnie from being interfered with, purchased, or otherwise harmed by any passenger not holding a senior citizen/stoodent/single parent family cheap-off-peak double seasonal saver away day non-same-day-return ticket, and not travelling via Gretna, Didcot Parkway, or Aberdeen after 9 a.m. on a weekday, or prior to midnight if it's Lent - or changing trains less than 4 times per hour if carrying more than 7 items of lugage - and also requiring use of a wheelchair/zimmer frame/pogo stick UNLESS said passenger also gets the pies in for any armed staff within earshot of the buffet area..."
Re: ACPO minutes - Cor bedtime reading
Exactly,
Maybe the firearms to which this certificate relates are to be used for protection of private property, or maybe the firearms to which this certificate relates are to be used only on two legged vermin?
Either way I really want to know what wording/permissions they have!

Re: ACPO minutes - Cor bedtime reading
It is the same as the "local force" issuing FAC's for Sect 5 firearms for maritime security!
I have a Sect 5 pistol on my FAC for humane despatch.

Well I'm sure it's slightly different for ships as if I remember correctly you don't need any licenses for firearms on a ship, only for transporting firearms to a ship and buying ammo,
Again though I'd love to see the wording on the ticket!
Perhaps a foir is in order!
