Blackrifles are an abomination when they've been debased and corrupted to straight-pull!

What's even more insulting is the crazy prices!

Although I do admire people's hard work, tenacity and ingenuity to make them work.

We're a stubborn race after all! The Lee bolt system is a prime example! OK, it's reliable, fast to load and cycle but we spent the best part of 100 years service developing it!

Do the left hand and right hand cocking levrers attach to the bolt in the same way? ie same size bolts same distance apart?

I just wonder if designing something for the right side of the gun, when you are setting out to not disturb your position, is the best way forward. I would have thought that having a left hand lever would be better.

Despite everything I see to tempt me, I am driven to get Mik Mak to build me a left hand bolt, right hand port rifle. Apparently they work very well in bench rest.

The right hand cocking lever attaches to the bolt by two screws, the left hand cocking lever is not connected, instead it slides in a channel and has a lug that engages in the bolt. This means in theory that it stays forward all the time unless used to cycle the bolt. What actually happens is it rattles around a bit in the forward position hence me removing it as it is not needed plus it drops the weight by a few grams.

As a result of your posts - I got to wonder if mine rattled? (I hate rattle!), as I had not noticed it doing so. Well tried it on the range, no rattle - tried it at home (Not loaded!!) no rattle!! guess mine is just better than yours :55:

:lol: I have a different fore end on mine, a quad thingy which means the clip on the left hand cocking handle did not quite lock in place, I did try moving the quad forward but decided I preferred it right back on the stop so the cocking arm was always going to rattle. Actually it is not until you remove it that you notice a difference.

Personaly I find the left hand cocking lever more useful if the rifle is supported rather than releasing your grip with the right hand to rack the action .
