anyone going to riflecrafts grand new shop opening?

Good luck to Riflecraft they have been around for a while but recently seem to have gone from being the company to use to seldom heard from. I contacted them a couple of years back and asked them if they had given any consideration to updating their web site pointing out what an important sales tool it was for people not on their door step. I got a fast reply saying that they were working on it.. Looks like it has taken a bit longer than expected to sort out.

Okay, enough of postings about dietary habits (personally I can't eat shellfish if you must know!) but when's this event at "Trifledaft" as they are sometimes known. Of late I haven't been spending but I've had plenty of rifle work done by Andrew in the past and wouldn't hesitate to go back. And I totally agree that their website has always been weak.

Shooting so will have to give it a miss but I do hope the weather holds out for them and everyone that attends.

What exactly is the difference between a Lobster and some Sprouts when plunged into boiling water other than the colour, oh and taste.

Lobsters scream louder.

Only initially ...

Once they have started to go through your system ... the noise from sprouts is way, way worse.

And if taken ounce for ounce, a lobster in boiling water is a whisper compared to the B747 taken off of a few sprouts.

Well i went and wasn't disapointed !

It really is extremely well done with a major focus on precision rifle gear that is so popular nowadays, and you don't have to trawl through piles of ropey old 'previously loved' ex farmers baikels to get at the stuff were all interested in !

There is a place to sit and chat with a coffee , there is a dedicated reloading area upstairs with kit on display and cupboards full of components , obviously they can't carry everything but they do seem to know what the majority of us want and when i spoke to them they said with a weeks warning they can get pretty much anything you need component wise ? they also have loads of kit i was totally unaware that i needed(wanted) and to top it all off you can get advice from people that know the facts about a lot of this shooting stuff we do.....

It's right next door to his workshops if you want to discuss a build (andy will give you the facts wether you listen is up to you?) and while your discussing it why not chuck your moderator in their sonic bath for a clean?

The highlight for me was an hour long chat with Chuck Mawhinney one to one (there promoting his M40 vietnam replica) i found him to be a knowledgeble and friendly chap without a hint of bullshit (my kind of guy) he patiently chatted to me for ages about all and everything without a hint of irritation which is surprising to me because i would imagine he hears the same questions over and over again ! and despite having used his skills in anger during the vietnam war he is still a passionate shooter (and a bloody good shot,all 103 of his new m40s are shot to 1/2moa or less by himself!)

I picked up my 260 shortened and fitted with it's new hardy moderator while i was there and have to say i was really impressed with the new mod and told the guy so as he'd taken the trouble to fly over from new zealand for the opening!

Andrew has clearly invested a lot of time and capital in this venture and i for one intend to support it.

So to sum up i would highly recommend a visit and if there is anything you need phone ahead and give them a chance to get it in for you ? but be warned your wallet might get a doing !

just read it all back and thought i should mention that i'm not on a commision! but i do currently have six of andy's rifles in my gun cabinet

Kate and I popped in for a couple of hours on our way home from Barton Road. The new place is a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of gun shops- bright , airy, and a lot of cool stuff on display. Andrew was chasing around like a blue arsed fly tending to this and that but still had time to recognise and chat to a lot of people.
Good luck to them as the place looks to be much improved and some very nice rifles in the gun room. Oh dear! I have a feeling that this is going to turn out to be expensive seeing as its only a few miles down the road
