Re: 6.5x55
It's probably got an oversize bore (most Military Swedes do) and needs a bullet that will fit the bore. Easy if you cast for it but not so easy if buying bullets off the shelf.Alpha1 wrote:It did not shoot very well at all I think this rifle is a dud I need to move it on.

Re: 6.5x55
The 142's seem to go well in Military Swedish Mausers, did I imagine it or did SMK have a 146 grain bullet in 6.5 once upon a time?
Re: 6.5x55
It was 156 grs but with a low ballistic coefficient the sierra to use for 6.5 is the 142.By the way my brother rifle does shootovenpaa wrote:The 142's seem to go well in Military Swedish Mausers, did I imagine it or did SMK have a 146 grain bullet in 6.5 once upon a time?
cast .268 diametre wery well so cast bullets could be tried with succes.
The other option is rebarreling Lothar Walter stocks barrels for the model 96,they do shoot well.

You could be right. I have a mould I will cast a few pills and see how it goes. It's probably got an oversize bore (most Military Swedes do) and needs a bullet that will fit the bore. Easy if you cast for it but not so easy if buying bullets off the shelf.
But its the sight thing again isnt it the mauser sight is calibrated for fmj not cast.
A whole load of work to work out the new settings.
I guess I better slug the bore.
