An idea - Bisley News
(not to be confused with the parish newsletter of the same name)
Is there a market for a news "publication" covering Bisley Camp and the various associations, er, associated with the place?
Purely idle speculation from a bored journalist whose day job is sapping the will to live out of him!

Re: An idea - Bisley News
Possibly of interest to those already in the cachment area
BUT
As has been said to death on here - the majority of folk in the UK are non-Bisley shooters, or only get to Bisley annually or for annual/national comps
Why not do a series of features on the REGIONS & what goes on there?
MY club (JSPC) has a few open comps - at the last one a new UK record was broken
Consett Club host an annual Historic rifle shoot
Dundee Club has just started Practical/Target Shotgun
Carlisle Club host all sorts of Practical Shotgun events and training courses
Vintage Arms Scotland have regular historic meetings
MOST regional clubs do MORE for the average club shooter than Bisley ever will
Dig out your travelcard & get some miles covered

A repeat of the Earwig of a few years ago would go down a treat with me. Twas brilliant!
Re: An idea - Bisley News
Something on-line Gaz? If you could cover both the Bisley/NRA and regional scene and remain unbiased and independent I would subscribe, you could look at getting some guest writers in as well.
Sounds like a great idea to me.

Re: An idea - Bisley News
Gaz, it might be an idea to see if you can get some regional feedback from people on FBUK as to what is going on then compile something from there. Almost like regional reporters.
I know that the clubs on east coast of Scotland (Aberdeen, Dundee and JSPC) have good web sites and or newsletters and it may be that you could "scavenge" information off these. I'm more than happy to help from a NE Scotland perspective. There are certainly FBUK members who can cover the whole of the east of Scotland.

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Regional reporting's a good idea. What do you think, stuff like match results and club range days?
Aye - although my instinct towards any big body is 'sceptical til proven otherwise'!ovenpaa wrote:Something on-line Gaz? If you could cover both the Bisley/NRA and regional scene and remain unbiased and independent I would subscribe, you could look at getting some guest writers in as well.

Anything regional is good, monthly articles on individual events and clubs would be good, things that encompass all disciplines.
So... when does it start? :shakeshout:

I think if it was going to try and be national then Bisley News would be the last thing you'd want to call it.

Another Bisley would be a better idea...ideally a few of them across the country...

Re: An idea - Bisley News
It's an idea at the moment, along with one or two others floating around my noggin. Having a national publication would be nice, but what would that cater for that Target Sports and the NRA Journal don't?ovenpaa wrote:Anything regional is good, monthly articles on individual events and clubs would be good, things that encompass all disciplines.
