To get the magazines to the UK was going to be expensive using the LCJ shipping as they do not discount for multiple purchases. So thankfully a friend in the USA brought them back with him when he returned last week.
I did not have a easy time getting them delivered from LCJ to my friend with the lot taking from Feb-late May to arrive. If my friend had not been in the USA and able to phone the company I don't know if they would have arrived yet - so be warned etc.
I will give some feedback on the 9mm mags once I have tested them.
Although initially I did not like spending £60 on the AICS magazine it is relatively cheaper than many other rifle magazines on the market and easy to get hold of. Once I had one in my hand I was happy that it was a good purchase, it was well made and will last a long time.
However my curiosity got the better of me when I saw these and I ordered one to see how they measure up.
As can be seen from the photographs (if they work) you would have to be a real train spotter to tell the difference from a few feet. The only real signs are the magazine follower is different and the name on the bottom plate.
On inserting it into my rifle it is noticeably tighter than the AICS. I am not sure exactly where but I am sure that after some use there will be some tell tale rubbing marks. This will only be a problem if I am shooting a competition that requires a quick change, so may start with this one then change to the easier to insert AICS.
I did notice when I ran the 9mm AR mags through my AR that they were not all the same fit, some tighter than others so maybe that is the nature of the beast with rifle magazines.
The bolt operated without any obstruction, which the AICS did not until Ovenpaa removed a tiny amount from the back edge, possibly just able to see in the picture - the AICS magazine is on the left of all the pics.
I had a feeling that possibly the LCJ magazine had a slightly longer inside capacity ie can handle longer rounds. The AICS measures 2.861 and the LCJ 2.896 so I may be able to use slightly longer builds in this one, which may be able to handle my 185gn Berger's, although I only single load them as shot in F Class.
All in all a good buy, I have enough now so will not be buying anymore but would recomend them as long as you can get them here etc.
