My lads first trout! I think the smile says it all.
Casting a fly is going to take a lot of practice and perseverance but he is determined to crack it-well I hope so as at the moment I seem to spend more time in the bushes and up trees, retrieving flies and tippets, than teaching him to fish.
Just wish my Grandfather was still around to witness it as he was the head gamekeeper at Wallington Hall in Northumberland and used to tickle brownies on the river Wansbeck.

Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.
If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

I thought about getting one of these when my lad was young. I didn't in the end because we went down the coarse fishing route but it might be worth a think. There are some youtube clips around and it looks like a good idea for that age group. Might save you some flies!
