Found this.

Can't put it up, haven't found that feature on my Ipad.

I can just remember seeing it, anyone else? and, does anyone know the name of the bloke in the picture.

I think it's Big Jims dad!

I can just remember the butts looking like that - first visit to Bisley 1979. Though the few times I saw the train operating it had three trucks, all loaded high with targets being delivered along the butts.

Note the spacing between the targets, now much smaller, which is how we have got 108 targets into 9 butts where we used to have 100 in 10 butts. The 10th butt (butt 10) is now the 300m range.

Also note that the runners are on 3 sides of the verticals, so all run at the same speed. The current design using a v-shaped vertical and corresponding runner means that some bit of the runner is always dragging rather than rolling.

Look how clean it was back then. Now it seems people are incapable of cleaning up after themselves judging by the rubbish left at Short Siberia.

The difference is, then it was competitor marking ( or Ghurkas) and staff who cared.

Even in the seventies there were people with a work ethic.
