Brand new. Just tried adding 1/2 turn to the F/L sizer to bump the shoulder, still the same.

Don't know if it matters but the action is stamped "made in Japan, imported by LSI, Reno, Nevada"

Do you have any method of confirming the shoulder has been bumped back by the die and any way of measuring the shoulder to head length of the cases you are working with?

Only have a basic micrometer and bad eyes!.

Thing is the cases all fit into my Steyr and a friends A.I. with no effort at all.

I'll see if I can get any measurements, I assume you want case bottom to end of shoulder and top of neck to start of shoulder (going downwards from rim to base)

The AI if it has the issue barrel is going to be at the open end of 7,62x51 NATO which means you can stuff just about anything in the chamber. The Steyr may have a slightly more open chamber as well. I measure from the head to a little over half way up the shoulder. I can pop a bump gauge in the post tomorrow for you to check with if you wish.

You will need a set of callipers to use the gauge.

When you full length size are you making sure your die bottoms out I had a similar problem adjusting the die fixed it.

OK, Measuring from base of case (which was easier), I also have some RWS cases I got from John (Bisley shooting services) which go in perfectly so measured one of those.

Base to shoulder------"Normal case"------"Bumped case"------"RWS case"

-------------------------39.85--------------39.71--------------39.61

Base to top of shoulder (start of neck)

-------------------------43.56--------------43.56--------------43.94

Alpha1, yes I also tried a different press and same results.

OK lets all go back to basics, does it chamber factory ammo? if so the problem is with your resizing die or setup, if not then the problem is with the rifle (if it is new) I would be very surprised if that was the case, but who knows? whether a round chambers in another rifle is irrelevant, thats why people only use neck sized cases in the same rifle.
just checked one of my resized case, now bearing in mind the difficulty of measuring a curved object I get 39.89 and 43.24

It chambered a Wolf factory round which is all I could get hold of.

All the .308 ammo I have is made using the same equipment, all cases are full length sized and trimmed to length using the same die and trimmer.

I don't understand why cases of different makes or the same make sized in the same die and trimmed on the same trimmer can then have a mix of work and not work. Surely the die sizes the cases to the same dimensions every time?.

it looks to me like your die is not pushing the shoulder back far enough at the start of the neck? it would be handy if someone else could check their ammo
