not being pedantic but where do you keep them under lock and key, keep mine on a shelf in house when im not at home room is locked, advised not to store in gunsafe

I was taught (and have taught others, including probably hundreds of cadets!) that as long as the flag is in and the bolt is out, and you're not being obviously dangerous with your rifle (e.g. pointing it around willy-nilly), you can more or less - safely! - do what you like with your rifle. And I don't see that causing a safety problem at Bisley, unlike the clubs who turn up dressed in camo gear acting like they're on the Russian Front circa 1941.

One of the things that puts me off shooting away from Bisley with a club other than my own is the number of RCOs who treat firearms like a nuclear reactor on the point of meltdown. It is not inherently unsafe to have a rifle butt rested on your foot when having a chat behind the point, so long as the flag is in and/or the bolt is out.

It wasn't taught that way on the course I did in 2005.
