You can buy ammo in the USA if you have a hunting licence. I bought an Alaska hunting licence (the cheapest available in the US) and that then allows aliens to buy ammo from a regular store
Must just be certain States that do that, over the years I've bought ammo all over the place and despite my Scottish accent I have never been asked for ID or for any type of hunting licence. Just saying.

I've been ID'ed for ammo a couple of times.

Porcupine, I've never been asked for ID in the 25 years I've been here. Never been asked in any other State I've been to either. Hell I can even remember when California had pretty good gun and ammo laws. How times change and not always for the better.

In DK I did offer ID once whilst purchasing ammunition but these days I am neither asked nor do I offer. They also speak flawless English and I suppose there is an assumption that if I am a Brit asking for ammunition in Denmark I must be entitled to it... (A shrug emoticon would be handy at this point)
