Dave..

Inspired by you handy work, and having nothing to do but the house work, I thought i would have a go at knocking up a cleaning rod guide for my LRS2, using just what i could find laying about in my shed. Two hours later.....

TADAA!

Jenks MK1 cleaning rod guide...

Very good indeed, I take my hat off to anyone that can head off to the shed/garage/kitchen and come back a couple of hours later with something useful and at zero cost and this is a perfect example of such a thing.

I have in similar spirit my first ever OAL gauge, copper tube soldered into the back of a fired .308 case with a length of coat hanger wire to hold it in place. The wire has a slight kink in it to act as a friction lock.

Dave..
It's not the first time that I have utilised a cartridge case, some years ago I made a funnel for pouring boiling water through the barrels of my .303s.

Ovenpaa - this is the best I could do with the photos:

Idealy a guide would go all the way to the chamber, as it's not that easy to get sovent etc. out of the front of the action....

Well obviously a 6.5x55se cartridge case. The tube is a bit of copper pipe. the fitting at the rear end is..... Now Not being a plumber I don't know what it is called but the flange visible in the picture held a brass nut captive. I cut that off. With hind sight it might have been better had I left it in place fixing it with solder then increased the length of the tube, the flat on the nut resting on the flat of the action/stock would have provided additional support. Probably a mod for MK11 (yes I am that bored) Incidently whilst looking for the bits I came across some old .303 cartridges. They were given to me by a French farmer who caught me trampling over his plowed, field just in front of the Hoenzollern redoubt, at Auchy Les Mines (battle of Loos site). Could have been dropped by my great uncle. When I got home I cleaned one up and cut it through The cordite inside though wet, once dried, burnt beautifully. forgot to say the external diameter of the copper tube needless to say didn't fit the fitting it was too loose so I had to make a bush out of a section of another 6.5x55se cartridge case. :good:
