Re: 7.92 K98 mauser
Its a shame that there are no posts yet as I will soon be reloading for my K98 (once the cheap Yugo has run out)

Re: 7.92 K98 mauser
I'm going to start reloading for this calibre soon too.
I can only really help with the basics. Dies? Well, in my opinion, a die is a die is a die. You cannot go wrong with LEE, though I'm sure I'll get flak for that.
Bullets? S&B are cheap, and they'll punch paper as well as anything. Unless your bore is worn, you'll need .323 heads.
As a starting load, just follow the data-sheets and work from there
Good luck

Ooops missed this post I reload for Mauser K98 and have had good results out to 600yds with my set up. Should go to a 1000 but will try soon.
Once Fired Brass:
Already fired in your rifle: You may need to trim them. (mine trimmed to 2.23")
lee neck sizer die kit.
New brass:
Remington or PPU brass new F/L sized (Lee/RCBS)
S&B 196gr FMJBT .323dia bullets
Federal Large rifle primers
Powder, Hodgdon H4895 use reloading book to find load data, cos all rifles are different.. OAL in mine 3.15" (max OAL 3.250" Lee book)
Hope this is of help.
Good tip on the bullets Tower.75

Re: 7.92 K98 mauser
Thanks for the info. I have been trawling about on the web looking for the S&B 196 FMJBT bullets but cant seem to find a stockist-any leads gratefully received. I was planning to use the PPU bullets from Kranks, are they any good?

Re: 7.92 K98 mauser
Hi im going to jump on this as well, as I have 3 K98's with one/two im looking to improve the long range ability.
I have classic cast press with the 8x57 dies, lyman case trimmer. Lyman 49th edition manual to help.
Looking at youtube vids, some people use 200g .323 bullet with it just touching the sub sonic barrrier at 1000 yards, also on other forums I have seen reviews of the Nosler AccuBond 200g (Have silver tip) with good reports.
I will use once fired ppu brass, powder yet to confirmed, remington primers & will try the noslers first

We buy our canned bangs from www.ammo-zone.co.uk - they seem to have plenty of Mauser fodder ...

PPU Bullits from Kranks are fine for general plinking. He sells PPU ammo for the 8mm mauser as well I believe.
