What's the possibility of creating a rod guide machined to fit a CZ 527 chambered in 0.223?

I haven't found a suitable guide that is small enough for my CZ.

Back to the R93 cleaning rod guide, I was asked if I could build a guide for a Blaser R93 which set me thinking, I have handled the Blaser in the past and marvelled at just how slick the straight pull action is, and even dropped the barrel off just to confirm how easy it was however I was not thinking about cleaning rod guides at the time so this was an interesting ‘remote’ project. Remote because it has to be done by email, so grab some pictures, take a view on how best to build the guide, ask for the dimensions and build it.

Because the Blaser is straight pull there is not a lot to lock the guide in with, I had thought of building a guide that could be inserted and then rotated through 180 degrees so lock it in behind the rear of the action but there was insufficient clearance so it would have to be something that engaged only in the barrel itself.

Now one of my hangups is cleaning rod guides that flop around and fall out at the slightest provocation so this guide would need to be held snugly in place and also be perfectly aligned with the throat of the barrel so first thing was to build a dummy chamber to test the guide with.

The guide itself is manufactured from 6082 T6 aluminium and has two Nitrile O Rings to lock it in place, one in the chamber and one in the front section. I know I design and build these things but this is one of my favourite guides, it gives a very satisfying click as the second O ring engages and almost makes me want to go out and buy an R93. Finally I added a knurled section to aid removing the guide once cleaning has been completed.

I havn't got a rifle that warrants something like that - but if you start to make any guides specific to some of the popular classics (Enfields, Mausers etc), even in wood or plastic, I'd be up for a couple

The Blaser R93 guide is rather special if I say so myself. I have just started making guides for P14/M17's but they are just too shiny for my liking so I may make a half a dozen and bury them in the garden for a few months.

If you bury them in the garden, watch out for Badger's mates nicking them :P

I've found the new Mauser (sweedish 6.5) a bit trickier to clean than enfields - the mouth (don't know the correct term?) of the chamber, and the 'flat face' it's in, aren't that accessable - it'd be nice to have a guide that went right up flush to the opening...
