Doh... too slow! I just took similar pictures (though not stripped parts) of the mech to post.

these are much better lit than mine though, so... yeah, the thought was there :p

Many thanks all for replying and Ronin for the pictures, so the catch sits engages with the rear of the left lug as viewed from the rear. I had a feeling it had to be like this but needed a picture to confirm.

Are the bolts for the .223 and .308 the same dimensions other than the bolt face?

The bolts are the same dimensions - (similar would be a more accurate description), rather than exactly the same - a check of the 4 I have here, they measure .650", .652", .700" and .702" (diameter).

Thats two .473" S/A bolts and two .223 / .222 bolts

The 223 and 308 bolts can be swapped bettween actions, however only if you intend to rework the action during a rebarrel or blueprint....obviously.

So .650 is the bottom limit of the ones you have, the dimension of a .308 I have been given is 18mm/.708"

Thats correct, thats why they were called the 700 (.700" bolt diameter)

There is always a varience in bolt diameters on them, although most will shoot very well (once breathed on)

I never knew where the 700 number came from and having never owned one I know very little about them other than a well sorted one will shoot nigh on as well as anything.

Thank you.
