Gun cabinet "knock" protection.

#1 Post by M99 »

No doubt most of you, like me, have a gun or two - some need to be squeezed in to cabinets and I get really annoyed with myself if I knock one on the cabinet or another gun whilst taking them in or out.

So, I have adapted a useful item from around the house (Well I find them useful and I guess you will need an accommodating female partner (Or badger?!)

Stockings!! (The ladies variety) do the job very nicely, cover the stock and barrel, scope too and protect from dinks in the cabinet and fingerprints/marks on barrels too(Another pet hate - having to put a gun away you have just cleaned and leaving finger marks on the metal work)

I did get strange looks from the Mrs whilst raiding her drawers - but hey ho

They work a treat on rifle or shotgun.

I can only sympathise with you Mike, Christel refuses to take the rifles out of the cabinets these days, instead I have to take them out and return them in a very precise order. Sadly stockings are not worn in this house but we do have some woolly socks...

You can get gun socks with silicone coating inside, we have a couple and plan on getting more as both cupboards are at least double layered with guns

Woolly socks are great for protecting sound mods and bolts. smile2

Morning people, Gary Costello the March Scope dealer has started selling "bore store" products not sure on pricing but seen a couple on the range and look ideal, bit like a fleece sleeping bag for your rifle. Might be worth a look.

I just bought more cabinets......
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
