Newark show bargains

#1 Post by Ballistol »

As many of us won't be going to the show until Sunday, I thought I'd ask those going on Saturday to give us a heads up on any bargains or outsanding deals they see today.

Travel safe, and to coin a phrase "Scouts out!"

Got my self an Sightron scope £55 off and A Hatsan Semiauto shotgun for £100 off and a slip and cap thrown in so wasn't too bad.

Lots of nice rifles there just wish I had an FAC :( maybe next year .

Not sure about it being a bargain however we stopped by a stand selling Vortex scopes. Company is called Newpro UK limited.
Good price and nice details on the scopes.

Worth checking out if you are walking past their stand...somewhere down past Dolphin and Osprey from memory. Show prices are lower than "normal" prices.

I had a shopping list of items to look out for. I found at least one stand had actually increased their item prices over their website advertised prices by say 50p. Presumably to offset the pitch costs?

To be philosophical about it, I still saved money by not paying for carriage but still a bit naughty!

I went yesterday with a short shopping list but came away having not bought anything as I thought that many of the prices were rather high. I certainly didn't see any bargains. What I did see was a number of youths making off with a jacket that was on display but the staff on the affected stand didn't initially want to know about it when I pointed it out. Another retailer said that theft was quite a problem at the show.
It was rather packed earlier in the day but after lunch things were a lot easier and it was possible to actually get a proper look at products and to discuss possible future purchases with retailers.

Hi Christel

Do you know which models they had?, I've had experience of Vortex Crossfire scopes which are made in China, the 4-16x50 often comes up in the the US for $100-$150. As far as I'm aware the Crossfire is the only range made in China, the others are made in the Philippines and Japan. The Razor HD series are very nice but a bit more expensive, $1200 - $2000 smile2

One thing I can say about Vortex (USA) is their customer service is first class.

The 4-16x50 I held in my hand. Very nice, I am sure the show price was less than normal, some £30 less. Having read the brochure they gave us I realised they do different series, not sure which one we were looking at at the show tbh. :?

Just got back after almost 3 hours travel, very disappointed with the show.

As always, quite a bit to see, and good to meet old friends but found it really, really, hard to spend anything. Although there were savings on bits and bobs, having researched prices of guns before going to show, found they were at best the same and higher in many cases. As a group we've never come away with less, and believe me we were ready to spend.

This coupled with the fact it's moving even further south next year means that myself and the forty or so friends who attend will be giving it a miss. :bad:
