It is - I should know I have one.

I don't think that was a pointless project by the owner, in fact quite the opposite. It's a very ingenious method of fitting a scope to the Ishapore as the nornal scope mounts don't work on them. I also like the compensator slots to tame the muzzle flip as well as taking the metal back to the "white."

The pointless part was already done by Gibbs Rifle Co or Navy Arms when, they took a perfectly good 2A or 2A1 and chopped the barrel etc to make it look like a No5. They should be strung up for that nonsense! http://www.gibbsrifle.com/historical_remakes_.html

As the butchery has already been done, what is the harm in the owner doing something different with it? As long as it shoots and the owner is happy, is it really up to us to pass judgement? :-P

It looks to have been nickel plated. A perfect example of a pointless excercise that had to be tried for some obscure reason, it is probably a good ETR rifle and has given someone many happy hours.

But I agree with Vince, leave well alone with a good classic gun unless its a scrapper and someone has the skill to make it shoot again.

Well, it did cause a good degree of bewilderment followed by amusement, so the effort was not totally wasted!
