I'm planning to order some Dillon presses. Is anyone interested in a group buy to share a shipping pallet and reduce costs?
I plan to ship surface (slow and cheap), so the more we buy the cheaper the shipping per item. More items may also give us some leverage to negotiate with Dillon. I expect to collect from the port and have the items available for collection at or near Bisley.
Within reason I can probably also provide dollars at Interbank exchange rates, so no currency cost or loss, and no card surcharges or wire fees.
I'm testing the water to gauge interest in this idea, and it will take a lot of coordination. If you want a press on your bench in less than 8 weeks or so (probably more) then this is not a suitable option. If you want a Dillon at the best possible price and you're prepared to wait it could be a great option.

Re: Dillon Group Buy
I could be interested Rox. Can you give me a ball park figure for a press with all the bits and pieces for 44mag? I guess I need a 550B as I may want to relaod volume 223 later on.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
Re: Dillon Group Buy
can we add other things to the pallet if its going surface?
Been trying to get a couple of packs of Duracoat from the US for a while, but can never find a surface shipper to handle it...its only bloody paint & they have it as restricted on flights!!
Also been after a can of Old Ford Engne Blue aerosol, for touching up the Dillon & colour matching items I add to it (...things that started out life green, etc.)

Hmmm, what "extra" bits do I need to be able to load a complete round with every pull of the handle?

Ball-park pricing:Mike357 wrote:Can you give me a ball park figure for a press with all the bits and pieces for 44mag?
Take the USD price of what you want from Dillon’s site.
Add USD 100 for shipping (reducing the more that join in).
Divide by 1.58 to convert to GBP.
Multiply by 1.25 to add VAT and Duty (anyone know the actual duty rate that would apply to presses?).
There may be some fuel cost for collection from the port to share out.
Anything that comes out of Dillon's factory. It will not be possible to consolidate from multiple suppliers for this exercise (may be an option to look at this as a separate exercise).saddler wrote:can we add other things to the pallet if its going surface?

Re: Dillon Group Buy
I would expect duty to be the flat 20% and no further handling charges from HMRC however if you freight them anywhere in the UK this would change.

I would expect VAT to be at 20% and import (Customs) duty to be between 2 & 5 %, depending on the classification of the goods).ovenpaa wrote:I would expect duty to be the flat 20% and no further handling charges from HMRC however if you freight them anywhere in the UK this would change.
