My P14 with open sights was on the frame first shot at 800 and held perfect elevation, long range shooting is just a way of thinking.

I'd like to try 1000 yards. I'd like to see if my SMLE could do it :good:

Of course it will shoot 1000yds it was designed to. But can You?

I shoot TR therefore 25% of my shooting is at 1000yds although I do shoot 1100yds (with aperature sights no scope). I shoot MR, the starting distance is 1000yds.

Well, I could physically squeeze the trigger, but whether I'd hit anything is anyone's guess. I've never shot past 600 yards. But I'd like to one day

When I eventually get this bloody.REM700 up and running I want to shoot it at longer ranges. I have no interest in shooting this rifle at short "stalking" ranges like so many of our club members. My No4 is my up to 300yd rifle.
My shooting goal is to be able to consistently shoot reasonably well at 1000yds and even beyond.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Dougan, your SMLE will certainly get to 1000 yards.

Mike, wait until you move to 1200 with a .308, it is a whole new world.

Bugger... Well at least I did not go back and edit the name in the post

Apologies. Tower75 your SMLE will certainly get to 1000 yards, however I would always suggest using a P14 for such distances.

Got a P14 too, but I prefer the SMLE sights, for some reason

A small group of friends and i meet once a fortnight to shoot across a long clearfell out to 1350 yds.

We have gongs and circles painted on large rocks that are approx 10-12 inches.

I shoot 308, but theres also a 6.5x47, 300WM, 280 and a 6.5x284 in use.
