I am currently not an NRA member, I used to live a stones throw away from Bisley and nothing drew me to join.

It would appear that "funds" are needed to enable you to do things - common sense, dictates this, but you (I say you, meaning the NRA, not you personally) need to have a recruitment drive and you need to attract more members. More members will equate to greater revenue, greater revenue will allow you to do more, which in turn would hopefully attract more members.

Now for me to join the NRA, it is £70 (Currently reduced to £45 for new members) - but what do I actually get for my pennies?

I am already a member of an affiliated club, so I get my SCC through them, on a good day Bisley would be 3 and a touch hours for me - so easily achievable - but add to the journey the cost of a target and I would save over £100 by shooting locally - I can shoot out to 600 yards within a 45 minutes drive and out to a 1000 with just over an hours drive.

I am a trade member of BASC, for which I get my shooting insurance (x2) and a host of other useful bits.

So come on - sell the NRA to me as a prospective member, I am a FAC holder and shooter, who is sat on the fence and undecided as to whether to part with my hard earned cash on NRA membership.

This is the kind of thing I am on about though - they have zero interest in selling themselves to prospective new members who do not live on their doorstep or do not shoot TR. No response from any of the NRA folk who use the forum.

I get the same response when you speak to someone in person - like pulling teeth. Someone needs to start selling/promoting the NRA or it is not going to last the next 10 years.

I am still waiting for someone to convince me (Or even try!) to part with my pennies and join the NRA......................

Mike
OK very sorry that I have been so careless as to fall ill and not immediately on call to answer your every question

Thank you Christel for caring

I think this exchange makes it necessary to say that I am not an official spokesman for the NRA nor are Heather, Iain, Nick, John or any of the other staff, ex-staff or associated interested parties who post on here.

Sometimes I just want to read about shooting without having to provide all the answers or argue my case against people who just aren't interested. I have been ill for the last few days and whilst I am not expecting you to send flowers I did think that my earlier message would allow me a bit longer to reply.

I had prepared an answer earlier which I wanted to work on a bit more tonight but as per your last instruction I won't bother.

I did write war and peace on this but the bl**dy computer crashed.

MiLisCer - Show some respect, if someone dismissed you in the same way I am sure you would be livid. Karen and Co pass on information that is in the public domain and in there own time, if you have a real issue about the NRA then put it in writing to them. In the NRA's new lovely huggy rebirth I am sure they would listen to what you are saying and if they cannot change it they can at least explain it to you.

I am sure that in light of the recent job cuts at the NRA you appreciate that staff members will be fragile and Karen is being wary about replying how she would like to.

Karen & Co thank you very much for your contributions to the forum and for passing on the snippets of information that you do.

And before anyone squeaks that I know Karen, well I must confess I might have met her at an openday, apart from that I don't know the lady.

MiLisCer, Dont bother to reply

I'm going to stand up for Karen and all the NRA staff who post on here. They come on here on their own time and offer a answers to questions and help out when they can. They are not the Chairmen of the NRA just want to be helpful and if they get treated badly those of us who value their input here may lose it.

Karen gets my vote to.
Thank you for taking the time to reply even though you are under no obligation to do so.
