How about a centre fire gallery rifle - Marlin under lever or SGC 9mm,

But I rally think you should have a go at 12 gauge bench rest!

Price wise, it needs to be realistic, I am not planning on GBP6k system but would hate to be cramped with a fixed budget. Lets say around GBP1000 but that may/may not include sights.

We were going to recommend the very same rifle. Paul is the official Armourer to the Sett. Highly recommended.
