re-

here are my 2 Mas45.
The one with with the dioptre is an early Mdl still marked with the "Mauser" Logo. The other one is the later type made in France and just marked "Mas" (Manufacture d'Armes St Etienne).
Both had the same type of iron sight. The dioptre was a private modification and I do not know when it was done ?

Re- German trainers

Here is a little over-view of what the 3 type of rifles that a german boy born in the early 20's must have used.

From top to bottom
- a Mars 115 Luftgewehr . It's an air-rifle that was suplied for his Hitlerjugend training.
- then a 22lr KKW Walther Sportmodell made for Para-military and shooting clubs.
- and eventually when he is called for service a K98

Thank you Ovenpaa, yes they are.
We had a 22lr trainers club shoot. I left the Mas45 in the safe & I took the KKW out this morning.

Do those Mars 115 Luftgewehr turn up for sale very often?

I do a lot of classic shooting so always after more additions to the collection...

IF you dont have a copy, the Collector Grade book on the .22 German training rifles is an excellent read

I have seen couple of them for sale over the years. I got the Mars through the "militaria" network together with couple of German items as a swap . I am now back in England so cant take a pic but it has a little metal plate on the butt with a number which looks like a bahn or club serial #.
What is the book you are refering to please ?
