Senghenydd rifle and pistol club
Hi All,
Anyone shoot at Senghenydd rifle and pistol club?
I'm wondering what can be shot there, what days does the club meet, contact phone number for the secretary etc. etc.
I only live a ten minute drive from Senghenydd and would love to have a local range.
Looking online hasn't produced a club website.
Thanks
David

David,
A call to your firearms licensing should give you the conact number of a club official. I know our local dept do.

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Why not just drive down there a couple of evenings and see whose around , introduce yourself and see first hand what they do , most shooters are more than helpfull and like to talk about whats what .

Re: Senghenydd rifle and pistol club
You might find that difficult because it is an outside range on the top of a mountain and I doubt if there is anyone at the range at night.. Access duing daylight can be interesting, in the dark it would be quite a challenge as men have been known to fall into some of those potholes never to be seen again. Dave Havard used to be the man to contact, I don't know if he still is as I haven't had any contact with that club since the pistol ban.

Hi Greenshoots
Thanks for the reply - as I live in Ystrad this would really be a range on the doorstep.
Only lived here for 7 years before finding out about it

Re: Senghenydd rifle and pistol club
The club is officially closed. Has been closed for 15 months, firstly due to the farmer refusing access, and now by the police
due to the condition of the backstops. The club secretary Christine Pascoe says it will reopen, but it will be a very long time if you ask the opinion of other club members, nothing seems to have improved and it would have to pass a police inspection
